Reasons Why You Need New Shoes

Style, it changes constantly we have to keep up.

Comfort, just try playing basket ball in your 3 inch heels! You
need sport shoes, running shoes, dress shoes, flats, sandals and
slippers.

Health, it is bad to wear the same style of shoe all the time. You
need to flex and relax that Achilles tendon. Women who wear
only heels all day can have great pain when they try to wear flats.
That poor tendon doesn’t know how to work correctly when
lengthened. That is one of the reasons why that famous shoe that
starts with a B… is so good for you. The first few days of wearing
them are heck but they conform to your feet and give that tendon
the stretching action it needs. (It can make for a shapelier leg
too.)

Lets talk sweat, do you wear the same pair of sport shoes day
after day for hours at a time? The same goes with business shoes,
flats or heels. Ladies we have about 250,000 sweat glands in each
of our feet. You need more than one pair of shoes just to let the
poor things breathe a little.

The next time anyone says you don’t need a new pair of
shoes use one of the above reasons ( I especially like the
sweat one,) and watch them help you pick out the new
ones.

Sun Damage-the number one reason for aging skin

Sun Spots
Block Out the Sun

It’s the number one reason for aging skin.

Sun damage — caused by UV rays and free radicals — creates a variety of skin changes ranging from blotchy color, large “liver spots” to precancerous lesions known as actinic keratoses.

To prevent sun damage:
1. Cover up.
2. Walk on the shady side of the street.
3. Never leave home without wearing sunblock!

Tips: Even with an SPF, you will still develop some color through the sunblock, but more gradually, and without the burn and skin damage.

Rub leftover sunblock over the tops of your hands. The darker brown-pigmented spots that develop there, called “age spots,” are a real age giveaway. If you protect your hands from additional exposure, these may gradually fade.

Top brand cosmetic manufacturers are constantly developing new products to prevent and repair sun damaged skin. Visit the Spa at Home Beauty site at SoftSurroundings.com to research and purchase the latest innovations in skincare treatments.

Beautiful Swimwear

Summer is officially here, and it is time to head to the pool or the beach.  Do you have a swimsuit?  As a beautiful plus size woman you deserve a nice suit.  Please don’t jump into the water in shorts and a t-shirt, get a suit.  You have so many choices in price and style right now, there is no excuse.

The first thing to consider when buying swimwear is your shape.  With any piece of clothing it is important to draw attention to your assets and downplay your negatives.

  • Pear Shape:  de-emphasize your hips and thighs with skirts or boy shorts.  The Skirtini, Swimdress and tankini, were made for you.  If you would like a tank style, choose one that doesn’t cut at your thighs, high leg holes do the best job of elongating your legs.
  • Large Bust:  you need support.  A vee-neck can be very flattering, use it to draw attention up toward your neck and face area.
  • Small Bust, Large Hips:  keep dark colors on the bottom and light colors or prints on top.  Draw your viewers eye up toward your shoulders and beautiful face.

There are suits out there with tummy control.  Suits that will make you look pounds lighter.   There is a suit for you.  Remember the mirror is your friend.  I mean a full length view not the over the sink view.  Try on the suit.  Look at yourself.  Does it cut anywhere?  Do you feel comfortable?     Get a new suit and enjoy the sun.

Trapeze is the shape for summer.
This shape is comfortable and easy to wear. It is great for all body types, skimming over buldges and drawing attention to your beautiful face and lovely shoulders. When the weather heats up you want a relaxed free fit and that is what you will get with the Trapeze.
Back in the dark ages when I was young, we called this shape the Tent…Trapeze sounds so much nicer. You can have the Trapeze shape in a dress or in a tunic top. So easy to wear. Try wearing a floaty Trapeze dress over leggings to draw attention to shapely legs. Plus size abstract print trapeze tank

Fashion Tips For the Plus Size Pear Shaped Teen

A plus size teen can look very fashionable and great. It just takes a little planning and knowing what your body type is. If you dress for your body type, you can be a fashion winner.

If you are a plus size pear, you’ve got a curvy bottom with round hips and full thighs. You’ve probably also got some positives that you want to accentuate like a slim neck, graceful shoulders and a waistline.

Shop for clothes that will draw attention to your upper body. Buy tops in prints and bright colors. Look for tops with unusual necklines like a boat neck, scooped neckline or a squared off neckline. Tops that have designs gracing the shoulders or neckline will also draw attention to your upper body and face, helping to balance your top with your bottom.

Look for tops that are just a bit fitted so you can show off your waistline. But don’t buy anything that is too tight. On the other hand, don’t buy anything too loose, as you want to show off your waistline.

Show off your waistline with a belt or scarf. Show off your face with a stylish haircut.

If you want to add a jacket or blazer to your look, buy one that stops just at or slightly above your waistline. You don’t want anything to stop where your hips are the widest.

Look for a-line cut skirts that fit at the waistline and smoothly cover your hips and thighs. An a-line skirt will show off your waistline while covering your bottom.

Buy jeans with plain back pockets. You don’t want fancy designs on the back pockets that will draw attention to your hips.

Knowing your body type, and with some shopping planning, you can buy clothes that will accentuate your positives and help you make your own fashion statement. You can fine more fashion hints for the plus size teen at http://www.fashionableplus.com

You Need a Pedicure

Filed under: skin care — Deb. @ 1:36 am
Tags: , , , ,

Warm weather is here and you need a pedicure. Take a good look at your feet. Run one up and down your leg, does it feel like a message with sandpaper?

Now you have a choice.

  • Go to a saloon…I like this one because it makes me feel special.
  • Do it yourself…Not as hard as you might think.

If you are going to do it yourself, you’ll need tools.

  • Toenail clippers.
  • A file.
  • Something to soak your feet in.
  • A towel.
  • A pumice stone, or my favorite an egg foot file.
  • Foot cream.
  • Polish in your favorite shade.

First clip those nails. Straight across is best. Use the file to gently smooth the corners. Don’t get too close to the corners of your big toes. We don’t want any in-grown toe nails.

Next smooth off any callouses and dead skin from your feet and heels. This is where you want to use the pumice stone or egg foot file. Do this before you soak your feet.

A messaging foot bath is a plus if you have one. I have used an oblong plastic bin that was about six inches high and that worked well also. Put a soothing lather in the water. Dim the lights. Putting cool cucumber slices or damp teabags that have been chilling in your fridge, on your eyelids is a nice touch also. Then sit back and do nothing but relax for about 10 minutes. This is your time, enjoy it.

When time is up, dry your feet with a soft towel and smooth on the foot cream or lotion and polish those toes.

Your feet will thank you. Smile when you put on those new sandals and that ankle bracelet. You look great.

Remember Love Yourself and Dream…Deb.

For those of you who are interested, here is the egg foot file. This is great because it smooths your feet and the shavings are collected so that you won’t make a mess.

How to Dress for Your Shape

Filed under: style — Deb. @ 12:47 am
Tags: , , , ,

So you bought that great dress you saw in a fashion magazine. It looked really nice on the model, but there is something just not right about the way it fits you. What is wrong?

What went wrong was that you didn’t think about your shape. Your body shape can turn a ho-hum dress into a wow! Unfortunately it can also change the trendiest of dresses into a fashion don’t. You need to calculate your shape and then shop with your shape in mind.

No, this isn’t taking the fun out of shopping. It is putting the fun back in. Think of all the complements that will start pouring in when your clothes fit well. Think of all the money you will save by actually wearing the clothes in your closet.

Now to calculate your shape you need either a full length mirror or a really good friend with a digital camera. Wearing a swimsuit, tights, a catsuit or biker shorts and a tank top with a hint of spandex (anything that will show you the shape of your body,) stand in front of the full length mirror or let your friend take a full length photo.

There are six body shapes:

Round

Inverted Triangle

Hourglass

Pear

Diamond

Straight

Now take a good look. Is your shape Round?A woman who has a round shape has a generous bust line with a fuller back and rib cage. She has a waist line that is generous, narrow hips and lovely, slender legs.

So what should this shape wear? V-neck tops are a great way to elongate and slenderize the neckline. You want to stay away from fitted tops. Fitted tops will only draw attention to your waistline and fuller bust. Free flowing tunics are the ticket. If you wear jackets, narrow collars and single button styles are best for not drawing attention to your fuller bust and waistline.

Show off your great legs. Leggings are best with a great tunic look. Lucky you can wear a slim skirt to show off your hips and legs. The carwash hem, with a few buttons discretely opened is also a nice flirty, casual look.

Are you an Inverted Triangle?Do you have broad shoulders, a medium bust line, average waist and narrow hips with lovely, shapely legs?

This body type wants to balance out those broad shoulders and enhance those great hips and lovely legs. Balance out your upper and lower torso by wearing lighter colors on the bottom half. Try a flared skirt or those trendy, wide leg pants. V-necklines will elongate your upper torso and lead the viewer’s eyes down away from your shoulders. A wide belt worn over a big shirt low on the hips is also a good bet.

Is your figure the classic Hourglass? This figure has a bust, small well-defined waist, curvy hips and shapely legs and sometimes a protruding bottom.

You have an easy shape to dress. Celebrate it with soft fabrics, wrap dresses, and belts that lay at your waistline. A small waist helps the taller woman look more balanced. If you are shorter de-emphasize your waist a little so you won’t look cut in half. Stay away from oversized or too fitted styles, stick with semi-fitted clothing. An hourglass is every woman’s dream figure, do your best to wear clothing that emphases your curves.

The woman with a Pear shaped body has a slender neck, narrow shoulders, a small bust, a shapely waist and generous hips and thighs. You have a small, feminine waistline embrace it. Choose flowing fabrics, wide leg pants are best to de-emphasize your hips and thighs. Straight skirts can be your friend. You want to pull attention toward your upper body. Cowl neck tops and boat neck or square necklines can help give you the illusion of broader shoulders.

The Diamond and Pear shaped women are similar. The Diamond has narrow shoulders, a small bust with generous hips and thighs. The Diamond is curvier than the pear and is narrower on top with a fuller bottom. Stay away from cuffed pants or pants with detail along the hem. Cuffs and detail can draw the eye making you look larger on the bottom and shorter. Tapered legs are a good bet. Jackets and tops should not pull across your hips or bottom they should flare gently over those trouble spots.

The woman with a straight body type has an upper and lower torso equal in width. Her bust is average, with a large rib cage, undefined waist line, a flat bottom and slender legs.

The trick for this body type is to create waist definition with vertical lines that curve at the waist. Princess seams are great for you. The empire waist line is your friend, as well as the dropped waist. You don’t need gathers or pleats at your waist. Knit pants work well with your flat bottom.

As you can see different women come in different shapes. A woman needs to dress for her shape. Dressing for your shape will take the confusion out of shopping and put the fun back in. Enjoy.
